The Robinson R66 Type Rating course is designed for pilots transitioning to turbine-powered helicopter operations. As a significant step up from piston-engine aircraft, the R66 introduces pilots to turbine engine management, advanced systems, and higher-performance capabilities.
The course combines comprehensive theoretical instruction with practical flight training, focusing on turbine operations, engine handling, performance planning, and operational procedures. Special emphasis is placed on power management, flight planning, and safety considerations associated with turbine helicopters.
Through this training, pilots develop the knowledge and skills required to operate the R66 confidently, preparing them for more demanding roles in commercial, private, and specialized helicopter operations.
The standard course duration is five to seven days; however, it may be reduced to as little as three days for pilots holding a similar type rating or upon request.
*The listed requirements and prices refer to a full course. Under EASA regulations, training hours may vary depending on the types already held on your license. Please provide your license details when enquiring, as prior experience may reduce both theoretical and flight training requirements.
